Daily Bites Of God’s Word – Part 9 – Psalm 119:9

Just as we need daily food to sustain us physically, we also need daily food from God’s Word to sustain us spiritually.

Psalm 119:9 LSB

How can a young man keep his way pure?
By keeping it according to Your word.

Young people are especially susceptible to certain types of sins. In the younger mind that is still developing there is a level of immaturity there biologically, intellectually, and for the Christian, spiritually. It is vitally important for all Christians to take heed to obey God’s Word but it is especially important for the younger person to concentrate and apply themselves diligently.

Word Study

Keep His Way Pure to cleanse, to clean, to make pure or innocent.

His Way – path, course, direction.

Keeping It – taking heed, to guard, to observe.

Your Word – Your command, teaching, saying, revelation.

If one commits to keeping their way pure, it will contrast them from the world sharply. In particular, the young person who does this will stand out among their peers at school and in all walks of life. It does not come naturally and is a learned behavior but by the power of the indwelling Spirit of God, a young person can keep their way clean.

Applying This Daily Bite

  1. In what ways have you taken heed to obey God’s Word?
  2. Are there areas of your life that need to be cleansed of sin?
  3. How has your righteous walk impacted those around you?

Praying This Daily Bite

Lord, I want to keep my way pure before you. I desire to keep Your Word. Help me avoid pitfalls and traps that entice me to sin. Even if I am faced with challenges or persecution, help me to remain steadfast in my commitment to live righteously before You.
