Daily Bites Of God’s Word – Part 10 – Psalm 119:10

Just as we need daily food to sustain us physically, we also need daily food from God’s Word to sustain us spiritually.

Psalm 119:10 LSB

10 With all my heart I have sought You;
Do not let me stray from Your commandments.

There is one way to seek God: with the whole heart! As Christians, we have been raised to live spiritually, and made into new creatures in Christ who love God and want to know Him. The unsaved are incapable of seeking God in this way. Our daily prayer should be for God’s grace to keep His word.

Word Study

All my – the whole, every part, entire, in totality.

Heart – the feelings, the will, the intellect, and the mind of a person.

Sought – inquired after, investigated, followed, searched for.

Stray – wander away, to err or fall into error, unintentionally sin, miss the mark.

Commandments – orders, directives, instructions from God.

We seek God with everything we have and everything that we are. We should never want to wander off or miss the mark. If we are actively seeking and searching for God in His Word, we will find Him. The grace of God not only saves us but empowers us to obey His commandments and live a righteous life.

Applying This Daily Bite

  1. Do you seek God with all of your heart?
  2. Are there any areas where you find yourself wandering away from God?
  3. Do you need to refocus on God’s Word and actively seek Him?

Praying This Daily Bite

Lord, I recognize that I sometimes sin and miss the mark. I am saved by your grace but remain in sin-stained flesh. Lord, help me to submit to your Word, follow your leading in my life, and live righteously in all areas. Father, I repent for those times I sin and do not obey your Word. Help me to seek you with all of my heart.
