Daily Bites Of God’s Word – Part 25 – Psalm 119:25

Just as we need daily food to sustain us physically, we also need daily food from God’s Word to sustain us spiritually.

Psalm 119:25 LSB

25 My soul clings to the dust;
Revive me according to Your word.

When Christians are truly God-Centered, they understand that they live according to the Word of God. In fact, not living according to God’s Word is to be as if dead. To be separated from God’s Word is to be separated from the very breath that gives life to the believer. Our souls cling to the dust and are dead apart from the living Word of God.

Word Study

My Soul – life, person, mind, creature, being.

Clings – to cling, cleave, adhere, stick.

Revive Me – to live, to be alive, to revive, to restore to life.

When we find ourselves in a spiritual rut we are revived by the same Word that sprung spiritual life in us. The Word of God is our anchor. The Holy Spirit of God gives us spiritual life and the Word of God is the spiritual food by which we live each day.

Applying This Daily Bite

  1. When were you saved?
  2. Do you remember what it was like before you were raised to spiritual life?
  3. In what ways do you now cling to God’s Word daily?

Praying This Daily Bite

Lord, thank you for saving me! Holy Spirit, thank you for your miraculous work in my soul to raise me from death and from clinging to dust to now clinging to life and living according to Your Word. Sustain me by Your Holy power and Your Holy Word.
