Daily Bites Of God’s Word – Part 26 – Psalm 119:26

Just as we need daily food to sustain us physically, we also need daily food from God’s Word to sustain us spiritually.

Psalm 119:26 LSB

26 I have recounted my ways, and You have answered me;
Teach me Your statutes.

When was the last time you genuinely asked God to reveal parts of your life that need repentance and change? When was the last time you acted upon what the Spirit revealed to you? The Psalmist says he recounted and kept score on his life and God responded to him. This means that the Psalmist sought God’s instruction on how to live. This is the essence of God-Centered theology. Starting with God and living according to His statutes.

Word Study

Recounted – to count, recount, declare, tell, score with a mark, keep a tally.

My Ways – road, path, journey, manner, conduct, course of action.

Answered – to answer, respond, testify, announce.

Teach Me – to learn, to teach, to instruct.

Statutes – ordinances, rules, regulations.

David wanted to be taught by God. Today, if you want to be taught by God, read and study His Word. Then, the crucial part, is you apply it! God will always answer us back in Scripture and prayer when we seek Him first!

Applying This Daily Bite

  1. Have you genuinely asked God to help take stock of your life to see if there is a need for repentance?
  2. Have you studied God’s Word and spent time in prayer waiting for His response?
  3. When God announces the needed change in His Word and through the prompting of the Spirit, did you make a change?

Praying This Daily Bite

Lord, help me be sensitive to the prompting of the Holy Spirit in prayer. Father, help me be still and study Your Word to learn how to properly live my life according to Your statutes. Lord, empower me to repent and make changes where you illuminate the need.
