The Bible is the greatest book ever written and it has only 1 Divine Author and many human authors. The Holy Spirit inspired each human author to write without error the truth of God’s Word to mankind. It is His Divine revelation.
All Scripture is inspired by God and is God-breathed. It is where we find God’s revelation to His creation and His people. We learn about sin, righteousness, salvation, daily living, redemptive history, and much more!
Profitable – beneficial, useful. It is not enough that something has utility but what is it useful for? We find that out in the rest of the verse.
Teaching – instruction, doctrine, conveying content to an audience in a formal setting.
Reproof – conviction, evidence, persuasion. It demonstrates something to be true that leads to a change of mind or behavior.
Correction – improvement, reformation, to set straight again. When we sin and err off the path we need to be corrected and set straight. Scripture is the basis for knowing if we are walking and living correctly.
Training – instruction, education, and training that leads to full maturity. To train in righteousness is to be disciples and develop into full Christian maturity.
Scripture is profitable for all of those things and more. Scripture serves as a guide for living during trials. Scripture is the final authority in the Church and it guides men on how to lead.
Scripture is how we learn more about our God and perfect Savior. Scripture reveals how harmful sin is and why it must be punished. Scripture also reveals to us the grace of God demonstrated most clearly in the Person of the Son, Jesus Christ.
