Daily Bites Of God’s Word – Part 1 – Psalm 119:1

Just as we need daily food to sustain us physically, we also need daily food from God’s Word to sustain us spiritually.

Psalm 119:1 LSB

I Love Your Law, O Yahweh
Aleph
How blessed are those whose way is blameless,
Who walk in the law of Yahweh.

Psalm 119 is dedicated to praising and uplifting the Word of God. As the Title above states, “I Love Your Law, O Yahweh.” Psalm 119 has 176 verses and 22 sections, each beginning with a letter of the Hebrew alphabet.

The Psalm begins by declaring that the blessed one is blameless and walks in the law of Yahweh (The Lord).

Word Study

Blessed – happy, divine favor, true prosperity that comes with living a life obedient to God’s law.

Whose Way – road, path, journey, manner of life, their conduct.

Blameless – undefiled, whole, without blemish, perfect (complete), a life of integrity.

Walk – to go, proceed, move forward, a manner of living, one’s behavior.

The Law – instruction, teaching, statutes.

The first verse of Psalm 119 sets the stage for what is coming. To be blessed, one will obey the Word of God. Only those who have been born again can live such a life. The blessed man has been saved by the grace of God.
