It is one thing for us to obey God’s Word and to live a holy life. However, when was the last time you actively spoke of the goodness of God? When was the last time you used your speech to proclaim the judgments of God? We often hear, “Walk the walk and talk the talk.” It’s not enough to talk the talk if we don’t walk the walk, meaning don’t give lip service to something you don’t plan on doing. Furthermore, it is also true that we should not walk the walk and forget to talk the talk! We must live holy lives in obedience to God, but we must also proclaim with our lips the greatness of God!
Word Study
Lips – not just the literal part of the human body, but a word denoting the language and speech of a person.
Recounted – to declare, to recount, to tell a story.
Judgments – ordinances, decisions, formal decrees.
We are to live a life in obedience to God. This much is true, but we are also to speak of the righteous decrees of God with our lips using language and narratives that encapsulate the total picture of who God is and what He has done.
