Daily Bites Of God’s Word – Part 4 – Psalm 119:4

Just as we need daily food to sustain us physically, we also need daily food from God’s Word to sustain us spiritually.

Psalm 119:4 LSB

You have commanded us,
To keep Your precepts diligently.

In this verse, we get a categorical distinction between Creator and creation. God is God. We are not. God gives commands. We receive commands. We learn what His commands are in inspired Scripture.

Word Study

Commanded (verb) – to charge, to command, to appoint, to order.

To Keep – to watch over, to preserve, to guard, be careful to keep.

Your Precepts (noun) – statute, command, mandate, divine instructions.

Diligently – very much, exceedingly, greatly, with intended force.

God commands us to keep His precepts with great care. There is great comfort in walking in God’s will for the believer. The more time we spend studying God’s Word, the deeper our knowledge of God and His precepts will be. Then, we can walk accordingly.
